Flange Locknuts are best used in areas where their larger bearing surface can cover oversized holes or bridge elongated slots. The additional bearing surface distributes the clamp load stresses over a larger area making it useful when mated with softer materials. In addition, use of a flange locknut eliminates the need for flat washers or lock washers, thereby speeding up assembly operations. Available from stock in various sizes such as small, regular and large, styles such as flat top and cone top, types include center lock, top lock and oval lock, and strength grades include F and G.

Grade G - Flange Cone

Grade G Cone Flange Locknuts are produced from medium carbon steel and heat treated to meet Grade G (B) performance specifications. Increased height and greater hoop strength makes this one of our most rugged locknuts. The top section of the Flange Locknut is ovalized to produce a smooth running locking zone. This allows for easy assembly until the locking elements is encountered by the mating part.

Also available in Metric sizes.

Applications: Industrial and commercial applications requiring an oversize bearing surface. Popular in lawn and garden equipment, material handling and truck manufacturing.

Grade G - Regular Flange

Our Regular Flange series are sized to standard Grade 8 flange dimensions per SAE J995 and IFI D-21, 1986. An economical substitute to Grade G Cone Flange Locknuts, they allow installation in smaller spaces because of their reduced height. Top section is ovalized to produce a smooth running locking zone.

Also available in Metric sizes.

Applications: Appliances, computers, farm equipment, furniture, house and garden, material handling, trailer, truck and auto.

All plating types are available for our products, including:

  • phosphate & oil;
  • cadmium;
  • trivalent/hexavalent zinc; and,
  • automotive organic finishes.

As a final coat, all products are coated with a U.V. traceable wax fluid to control torque-tension relationships. Certification is available upon request.
